History lessons

During this semester, I've learned so much about black history. How they were mistreated and viewed as commodities or test subjects in the lab. In 1932, 600 African American Males took part in a syphilis study. They were told that the men will be treated for syphilis however, they wanted to see the progression of untreated syphilis in black males. They were monitored and given placebos. The men started to die or experience symptoms or health problems due to a lack of proper care. This project was unethical and in 1947 the surviving participant along with the heir of those who were deceased received a $10 million out-of-court settlement. After learning this, I have a hard time trusting people in authorities.
